Summer Solstice in Style

A Santa Barbara staple for over thirty years, this annual festival is the area’s largest art showcase of the year; a colorful way to kickoff the Summer Solstice!

 Summer Solstice 2014

Parade: Noon – Saturday June 21st

Where: State Street & Cota

Festival: Begins Friday June 20th -22nd

Where: Alameda Park

Festival-goers at this celebration of the summer solstice take pride in standing out. Vibrant colors decorate performers and attendees alike, seemingly modeled after the vibrancies of Santa Barbara. Putting on an art showcase in honor of the seasonal solstice, Santa Barbara plays host to this invitation of color for the clear reason that the city embodies color.

Everyone has that artistic side to them, hidden or not, and this is the opportunity to contribute that flare in the community! Every day this week, members of the Santa Barbara community are encouraged to get involved at the parade workshops, bringing creative touches to the floats, costumes and masks that are the core of the festivities. Local artisans are also present to mold any and all ideas to life. To be a part of this experience just visit to register and get going!

Summer Solstice 2014 2

The festival, occurring at the peak of the solstice, draws inspiration from the natural phenomenon to illustrate the natural beauty that is Santa Barbara. With the aim of bringing together the community under the common appreciation of local beauty, how could anyone pass up this chance to let out their inner artist?
